Going 'Solo'

Description

As much as I favour my Lightsaber I'll never underestimate the value in having a good Blaster at my hip, reading through old Jedi texts however it surprises me just how dismissive many of the old Masters were of the idea, 'primitive', 'clumsy', 'uncivilized', yeah because waving around a glowing stick is the height of civility, you would have thought in the hands of a Jedi a Blaster would be perfect, I can fine tune my aim and compensate for the recoil by using the Force, hell in a pinch I don't even need to rely on my eyes to aim, but apparently I'd have been among a minority, and for me it really highlights just how close-minded the old Jedi were at the end of their era, it's little surprise that they were wiped out, I can't count how many times my Blaster's saved my life... ~Quinn Shara's memoirs, reflecting on her use of Blasters alongside her Lightsaber.

For impact and precision you can do no better than a DL-44, though a DH-17 was nothing to scoff at either, and definitely better if your aim isn't up to scratch, like Ashna... ~Quinn Shara, side note.

Star Wars OC AU nonsense, my OC Quinn Shara being a cocksure little twerp! :P

Being born after the fall of the Jedi, Quinn was never trained in the traditional sense, she received some training from her mother, but that was just basic technique before she was left with Yana, and as such was not really exposed to their biases until much later in life when, when she began researching and cataloguing documents and artefacts relating to the Jedi and the Sith, despite being a Jedi herself at this time she was very critical of the close-minded approach of both sides, she and her eventual students choose to walk the line between light and dark, firm in their belief of accepting their feelings rather than repressing or rejecting them... "A life without passion, without anger or fear, without sorrow, is an empty life, for what is joy without sorrow? Light cannot exist without casting shadows, and shadows cannot exist in the absence of light, both are intrinsically connected to each other, the Dark side, and the Light, and accepting one whilst rejecting the other can only lead to ruin, be it through recklessness, or ignorance."

Whilst to some extent her world view was influenced by Zia's retelling of the fall of the Jedi, her main influence comes from the people she loves, especially her adoptive daughter Orchid, the idea that she should not have any strong attachment to her deeply offends Quinn, who would do anything to protect her surrogate family, and whilst her devotion to her friends and family is her greatest source of strength, it's also where she's most vulnerable, and can lead to very reckless actions in order to protect them, endangering her life, and even exposing her to the Dark Side of the Force... Despite all that though she's still a Corellian, with many of the stereotypes that entails, cheeky, cocky, sarcastic and a bit foul mouthed, stubborn, reckless, but loyal, and very altruistic, thanks largely to her upbringing.

Quinn is naturally strong with the Force, and excels at the more physical aspects of using it, such as pushing and pulling, jumping, putting more power behind her swings, and stabilising her aim with blasters, however for what she has in physicality she lacks in other aspects, she has very little skill when it comes to foresight, and it only really starts to develop (much to her frustration) near the end of her life, she also has difficulty in using traditional forms of Jedi Meditation, instead her "Meditation" comes sometimes from tinkering, but mostly from writing, which becomes a major hobby, later in life she even begins writing her memoirs, as well as many books on Goldsaber, the Rebel Alliance, the New Republic, the Empire, etc, it becomes both a passion, and also a coping mechanism when times get tough, which is rather frequent...

Whew, I meant to upload this about a week ago, but as a lot of you know I've been ill lately, anyway art wise I had a lot of fun drawing this, ya'll know I love my girl Quinn, will take any opportunity to draw her! This piece in particular however is an homage to Han Solo, as she's not only wearing the same type of clothes (this is an outfit of her's), but is also pulling one of his poses from old promotional photos (just do a google image search, you should find it easy enough...), but yeah, I really enjoyed this, especially her cocky smile, she can shit-talk like a true Corellian too! ;P

Anyway I hope ya'll like, and as always feedback is greatly appreciated!
