Hey folks, how're ya'll doing?
I'm prepping for the con right now, as usual I've got the pre-con jitters and anxieties, but eh, I'm sure I'll be better than last year, and like last year I'm sure I'll enjoy it regardless, it's mainly the waiting that screws with ya' after all. I'm excited to see a couple of friends of mine too, I've not seen either of them in ages (Alex I only get to see at these cons, which is a shame 'coz she's cool. ;w; ), and I'm also excited to wind down with some retail therapy!
We all have our reasons for enjoying cons, for me it's the merchandise, not gonna lie, I'm a shopaholic, I save up yearly for these things, setting aside a little money each month towards the big convention, and now it's time to spend it, (Specifically I'm looking for Star Wars stuff this year, comics, books, figures, etc!) oh, and it helps that my Birthday was on the 20th! (more on that later!) Oh course there are other reasons beyond materialism that I enjoy this event, as already stated I enjoy seeing friends, and along with that, despite my social anxiety I enjoy the chance to meet like-minded folks, who share my interests, I think the fact that we all share common interests, it makes it somewhat easier, though yeah, I still got them jitters...
I'm looking forward also to seeing some awesome cosplayers, and meeting artists and other content producers, on a side note, I met Stuart Ashens at last year's con, he was very polite, and as well as signing his DVD/blu-ray (combo) he posed for a photo, which was probably the highlight of that day, he's got a booth this year too so I'm hoping to see if he's got some new merch! Beyond that I'm actually quite in the dark about who else will have booths or stores, or who'll be at the panels, I'll have to look at the website on the train over. (the age we live in, trains with functioning wifi, science bless! XD)
I'm also really excited to don my Rebel pilot cosplay!
By the way, if you happen to spot me among the vast crowds (however unlikely) feel free to say hi, though please bare in mind I have visual disabilities (I'm completely blind in my right eye, and partially sighted in my left, so I might struggle to notice from afar, eheheh, it's wishful thinking, but I would enjoy meeting some of my fellow deviants, even if it's just a brief hello. XD
I've still got a few hours to prep (I'm pretty much ready, just procrastinating, I should use this time to draw, but my hands are too shaky. XD We're leaving for Manchester at 5:30AM (it's currently 2:00AM, and my mind is far too active to sleep ), and we should arrive plenty early, we have early passes y'see, but we'll likely be around until the mid-afternoon, after which we usually leave the convention center and head into town to visit the various comic stores and such. ^w^
Anyhow yeah, that's the pre-con stuff, there'll likely be a post-con summery either when I get back later today, or probably more likely tomorrow, these events are fun, but tiring, I'll more than likely be wiped out by the time I get home. XD
And now for something completely different! (that was eluded to earlier XD)
The 20th was my birthday, and as such I want to thank everyone who wished me well, I greatly appreciate all of your messages, it really put a smile on my face, I even received some awesome gifts too, that I want to share with ya'll!!
The first was a wonderful short story, SW: Coming Home, by none other than the amazing SlingBlade87! He's a great friend who writes many fantastic stories, from fanfics of various series, to original works, you should definitely check him out if you're looking for a good read! ^_^ His work within the Star Wars universe includes stories with my own characters as well, and this story in particular features Quinn returning home after several years, and finding that much has changed, it's a lovely story, short and bittersweet!
And the second gift was this beautiful artwork from rayn44, who's both a good friend and the artist who's work helped reignite my passion for Star Wars about a year and a half ago!
This gorgeous gift features my darling Orchid being warmly caressed by her beloved, Jaeriel, these two are pretty much my otp, hands down, I adore them so much, seeing Orchid smile so contently, leaning up against Jaeriel, agh, they're so beautiful, at this point in her life too Orchid is battling with anxiety issues (regarding her childhood), but when she's in Jaeriel's arms all that baggage fades away, and she can genuinely smile. ;w;
I cannot stress just how much I appreciate these gifts, they honestly mean the world! Ya'll should go check both these folks out and give them some love, because SlingBlade87 is an awesome writer, rayn44 is a fantastic artist, and they're both wonderful friends!
-------
By the way, for some stories exploring the Orchid-Jaeriel relationship I'd highly recommend these stories!
SW Goldsaber: Ladies' Night - A really fun story about the perils of Truth or Dare, and strong hints of attraction!
SW: Young Love - Pent up fears of rejection lead to an unexpected and explosive confession!
SW: Losing It - Believing her lover dead, Orchid loses herself in a torrent of grief more fierce than the raging storm!
-------
Eheheh, I think that's it for this journal, art wise I'm drawing page 7 of First Farewell, page 5 should be up here in a day or two, and I've got several thousand messages to wade through, as well as some feedback to leave for folks' that's quite late! (please forgive me!)
Anyway yeah, I'll see ya'll after comic con!

Prints?
Hey folks, its that time again, that time I always DREAD, I'm low on ink, and markers are a PAIN in the Bank to replace, I'm trying to save £200 so I can do a BIG bulk order (with that many I can both get a discount, AND hopefully the main colours I use should last till Summer) so I was wondering about maybe selling prints. Would anyone even be interested? What pieces of my work would people like (I'm open to suggestions!)? Where is the best place to even SELL prints since it seems DA doesn't seem to do that anymore? I also have a ko-fi tip jar (https://ko-fi.com/sith_art) if you're feeling generous, but there's no pressure, its a tough time of year for everyone, I'd really like to figure out Prints, so at least you'd also get something out of the deal. Anyway hope you have a good holiday season, Love & Peace. ^_^
title I guess
So apparently Ai generated shlock can get daily deviation awards? Man this site fucking sucks these days. : ) It ain't about artists no more, staff sold it's soul, and now we're inundated with a deluge of mass produced, robot-made garbage, never thought I'd miss the days where the worst thing about browsing this site was the risk of a furry fetish jumpscare (no offence if thats your thing, just ain't mine), but man, I'd rather risk picking up a new thing I wish I could bleach from my eyes than the flood of artificial shit. Its why I'm so rarely online here, DeviantArt has no heart anymore. This relentless encroachment by parasitic Leechware into art, its demoralising, and seeing artists you (used to) respect cave and start using it because "I cannot complete", it makes me sad... and angry. You sold your soul, and you sold out your peers, you're nothing more than defeatists, invertebrates. I'm legally blind, I have Dyspraxia, I still draw with my own hands, what's your excuse for
SithPosts!
Hey folks! As you can probably see if you're reading this ("probably" and "if" because Eclipse is STILL a mess...), I've had a little rebrand! What's changing...? Probably just the name honestly. Still the same old Midori, still the same Star Wars content, just a new name. I've wanted to change for a while now, though most folks know me as Midori (And i still like it too) so thats staying, I much prefer Sith Posts, more properly ties me to my Star Wars content. it also helps because I use MidoriSithPostsArt as my handle for my Twitter account, so it makes it easier to manage especially for signatures. (Though I sign my work in Aurebesh now, so I guess it doesn't matter to most folks who aren't Star Wars nerds xD) Art wise, I'm in... a bit of an awkward situation at home, tl;dr, I'm tying to move out, lockdown has made family life... hard, and I need distance. I'm hoping to get it sorted maybe in the new year, so art will be very sporadic for a while still, though at the very
*angry old man noises*
Okay folks, look, I can't stand Eclipse, and I'm still learning how to navigate this mess, but rest assured I'm not going anywhere, I'm a stubborn man, and I love the community who've congragated around mine and my friends' works, I'd hate to lose that. I AM still going to bitch and moan about it every step of the way though. xD
