Red as Passion.

When I hit puberty I started to grow self-conscious about my eyes (among other things...), everyone told me they were unique, but... Red is associated with the Dark Side, and Red Eyes in particular were a trait shared by followers of the Dark Side, knowing that made me uncomfortable, insecure, scared even, I was a silly girl... Jaeriel told me in no uncertain terms that I was, she said they were beautiful, like stars in the Karthakk System, the Ruby Nebula she said... So corny, and she knew it... But it made me so happy that I cried! Happy tears of course, she always has that way with me... 

We'll have to go to the Karthakk System, see how I measure up to this Ruby Nebula...

Yay! Star Wars OC AU yuri stuff, totally unrelated to Valentines Day, because it's a few hours too late... G-gimme a break though, I drew it on Valentines Day, so eh? Whatever, I'm hopelessly single, so screw Valentines, I ain't celebrating that! ;w; 

AAAAaaanyway, yeah, otp fluff, Orchid and Jaeriel sharing an intimate night.  
Agh, I love these two together, like, words cannot express how much I love em'. ;w;

Art-wise I love using red in scenes where these two are sharing romantic and/or sensual moments together, I mean hey, it is a signifier of passion, and I don't need a year wasted on a Media BTEC to tell you that (Ugh, wasted college year...), but more over because of Orchid's eyes, I love the Chiss, they're my favourite Star Wars race, their blue skin contrasts beautifully with their gorgeous red eyes, and so in scenes like this I really like to match her eyes with the background as they both complement each other and contrast her skin in much the same way, I couldn't resist using the red ribbon again either, I don't know why but it just feels perfect, again matching her eyes and contrasting her skin, it also signifies her bond with Jaeriel, her wilful submission and complete trust in her lover.

As for the pose, it's nothing really too creative, honestly I just really like drawing kisses, or any intimate moment between these too, there's another one like this, but it miiight be a little too lewd, I like to strike a balance between love and sex, and I think this one hits it..?  

I drew Orchid's eyes differently to usual here, I really like the glow that Chiss' eyes have, though the reason it's been absent in the past has been mostly down to lacking the resources to do it without heavy digital manipulation (which would contrast negatively with the traditional art) but I've found some pens that really pull off the glow! (According to lore Chiss eyes glow brighter the more oxygen in their bloodstream, or something like that.)  I figure though, what I'll do with Orchid's eyes, is that they get brighter dependent upon her emotional state, typically they're just deep, dark red, however during moments of extreme stress, sadness, anger, joy, passion etc. they glow brighter, I actually think this'll translate great into both art and written work, in times of passion she could look ever more alluring to Jae, where as in times of anger and grief (such as SW: Losing It) she'll look absolutely terrifying! I'm curious to hear thoughts on this.

Whilst Orchid is a dainty blue flower, Jaeriel is a tough as nails Mandalorian badass, but Orchid definitely brings out her softer side, Jaeriel gently manoeuvring her lover in for a kiss. I haven't really drawn Jaeriel so exposed before, so... Kinda' winging it, but I imagine she's got some pretty respectable abs honestly, again- Mandalorian badass. Though I dunno, I've never really... drawn abs before? At least not really tried to emphasize them? So I hope she looks alright, I'll definitely need to practice. Also breasts, still not exactly confident drawing them either. ;w;

The background is just something I put together to try to set the mood, it could possibly be the Karthakk system (from the Jedi Starfighter game) and it's Ruby Nebula, or maybe elsewhere, who knows.
