Blue Dagger - Nera Dantels (fanart)

What's this...? Star Wars art that ISN'T OC related? J-just Star Wars fanart?? I actually think that's a first for my DeviantArt account, believe it or not! XD 

Anyhow yeah, I drew this randomly this morning at four AM, I was just reading a bunch of Star Wars comics from the Dark Horse Omnibus At War with the Empire. One of the multitude of cool characters from the Star Wars Expanded Universe is Nera Dantels, originally created by Michael A. Stackpole for an X-Wing Rogue Squadron comic. She was a smuggler who supplied the Rebel Alliance with Astromech Droids, choosing to abandoned her neutrality and fight for a cause, prior to the Battle of Yavin she starts a brief relationship with Biggs Darklighter (one of my absolute favourite characters), though ultimately that ends in tragedy, as Biggs is killed during the Battle of Yavin. *cries* Despite that though she continues to fight for the Rebellion, aiding Luke and Leia on a diplomatic mission on Jabiim, and later flying a B-Wing as a part of Dagger Squadron under the call sign Blue Dagger.

I was debating weather to draw her with her smuggling ship, the Starduster, but it's hard to find many references of it, so instead I chose to draw her B-Wing. For reference I used an X-Wing Miniatures Game model, what's great is that the Rebel Aces variant B-Wing comes with the Dagger Squadron paint job, which is perfect! Hell, here's the line art with the miniature I used as reference.

 

Anyway, this was really fun to draw, as I like Dantels, and noticed there's really very little fan art of her... I also haven't draw a detailed B-Wing before, so it was fun to learn the proper proportions, once again Fantasy Flight, thank you so much for the X-Wing Miniatures Game models, they're a godsend for me. I also had a lot of fun playing with the framing of this piece! XD So yeah, I enjoyed this, and I hope ya'll like it too, feedback greatly appreciated!
